You can enjoy morning tea beside a crystal clear mountain stream at Clohesy River with a platypus habitat on the other bank! This 4WD experience then takes you deep into tropical rainforests, where you can enjoy a 40 minute walk at your pace to take in the scents and sounds of this unique region, crossing many creeks and seeing this habitat as nature intended it’ totally unspoiled!

Lunch is prepared on site for you beneath Emerald Creek Falls which has a series of cascading waterfalls over granite boulders. A walking track takes you alongside the creek with numerous falls and lagoons with the opportunity to climb up to and swim in one of the many rock pools, while your guide explains the intricacies of this very Australian environment. As this day is for you only, you have the choice of visiting a local coffee plantation near the Aussie town of Mareeba. Here you can watch a movie in the air conditioned theatre or maybe do a tour of the plantation on the ‘Bean Machine’, sample the coffee or relax a while. If you are up to it they also offer microlight flights over the plantation. There is also the Golden Drop Winery, where you can visit a working mango plantation, and to sample their lovely refreshing tropical mango wines, together with citrus ‘cellos, mango port, and golden mango liqueur-style wine. Granite Gorge Nature Park is another delightful area to visit where rock wallabies can be seen all day, but to really experience this beautiful place, the afternoon is when around 50 rock wallabies cover a small area hungrily waiting to be fed. On the way back to your accommodation you will stop in at the Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve where you’ll see a pride of lions and two beautiful lion cubs. The pigmy hippos are also a sight to see in the natural habitat and the rhinoceros is one of the biggest animals you’ll ever see casually frolicking in the large billabong provided. There’s everything from monkeys, brown bears, tigers, ostriches and cheetahs.
