rainforest tours — kangaventure

Come join a tour with Kangaventure and visit 165 acres of private rainforest bordered by stunning Eucalyptus forests and natural streams. Nowhere else around Cairns can you experience the rainforest in such privacy, away from all crowds and with personalised and customised attention.

Kangaventure’s tour will pick you up from your Cairns, Cairns Beaches and Port Douglas accommodation in a 4WD Hummer and from there it is a 30 minute drive inland from Cairns to their private nature park situated amongst one of the oldest rainforests in the world.

Some of the amazing wildlife that you may see throughout your day include the elusive cassowary, brush-turkey, wallaby, pademelon, Ulysses Butterfly and Lace Monitor. Other attractions in the nature park include giant Strangler Fig trees, a kangaroo sanctuary, Morgan the tame bull, horses, termite nests and the tranquil billabong which is home to water dragons, ducks, turtles, fish and eels.

The restricted access area in which Kangaventure tours operate provides some of the most stunning and uninterrupted views of nature and wildlife that you will experience in the Cairns region. You will have the opportunity to hand feed kangaroos, see massive termite mounds, learn how to throw a boomerang and crack a whip — guided and being taught by true ‘fair dinkum’ Aussies.

The licensed Billabong Saloon overlooks the tranquil waters and features a fully equipped kitchen, catering facilities, pool table, foyer, TVs and a campfire outside to roast marshmallows and enjoy some traditional billy tea.

For those seeking some real adventure, why not helicopter to the property just in time for your exciting Hummer 4WD excursion? Or if you really want to make the most of your day, spend the morning exploring the rainforest and then fly to the Outer Great Barrier Reef in the afternoon and check out the magnificent coral and tropical fish of the Great Barrier Reef!

Kangaventure can also be experienced by night. Spot nocturnal animals and go for a thrilling 4WD through the World Heritage-listed rainforest and plough through creeks, over hills and through mud guided only by the hummer headlights and your experienced and informative Aussie guide. Return back to the Billabong Saloon for a traditional Aussie outback dinner and then sit around the campfire, roast marshmallows, enjoy a traditional billy tea and relax to the enchanting sounds of a didgeridoo. After dinner learn about the constellations above North Queensland, hand feed kangaroos, visit the Strangler Fig tree and termite mounds before heading back to your Cairns accommodation.

Kangaventure is also a great venue to hold conferences, events, parties, incentives, weddings and anything else you can think of!
