John covers the inlet with speed and in comfort.

Your guide Canadian Born John Hangodi has 25 years of international guiding experience, including 15 years as a partner at the world famous Knight Inlet salmon lodge in B.C. Canada. I can assure you the day is not only filled with excellent fishing but there are many many interesting stories to be heard.

John splits the day in two with a morning charter for the early risers and an afternoon charter for others. The morning session is from 7:30am to noon and the afternoon session’s from 1:30pm to 5:30 pm. Both charters depart from Cairns Marlin Marina at the entrance of Trinity Inlet.

Trinity inlet is extremely well protected by the extensive mangrove system so even if the wind comes up you will have calm day fishing. Each tour begins with John catching live bait off the Marlin Marina namely herring, prawns, mullet this is quickly placed in the live bait tank for the days use. Then you will venture down the Trinity inlet to catch Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Queen fish, Trevelly, Salmon and many more hard fighting tropical species.

Dependant on your success and the size of your catch it can be released after a photo or we are happy to clean and ice it on board so you can introduce it to the BBQ that evening or maybe even ask your resort chef to prepare it for you.

John also provides the option to venture out to the Great Barrier Reef aboard his 6m boat. This is serious fishing and on a sole charter basis only for a maximum of two (2) guests. During the day you will target pelagic fish like giant trevelly, spanish mackerel and cobias, troll lures or big live baits either on the surface or hooked to a downrigger. He also specialises in jigging with heavy metal jigs, raiders and bumpa bars around the local wrecks.

All charters include quality tackle, bait, cold drinks, tea and coffee.

The shared charters are great fun and the most popular, you will enjoy meeting anglers from around the world all after a common goal.
