If you want to go to the reef in style, comfort and safety then you have to go on the new Aristocat which was launched in 2006. Although geared to take up to 90 passengers, they only choose to take 60. They cruise out to the reef between 28 and 30 knots and you get to dive and snorkel at 3 separate locations on the day.

The crew is multilingual and has many years experience on the Agincourt Ribbon Reef. On the way out you are briefed on your chosen activity for the day to maximize your time in the water.

The Ribbon Reefs are long narrow reefs located along the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, on the Continental shelf or drop zone. Coral thrives in this pristine water, teeming with fish and coral life for you to explore. Immerse yourself in the ancient seascape and discover the exotic diversity and beauty of life under the Coral Sea. From giant clams to clown fish to sea cucumbers (an Asian delicacy) to reef sharks. The marine life is so diverse and new species are still being discovered today.

Snorkeling is the easiest way to enjoy the colours and variety of corals and marine life. Go on a guided snorkeling tour with an experienced guide who gives you an informative and interactive presentation where you can touch, feel and even feed the fish.

See schools of fish, manta rays, 1500 different coral and 2400 known species of fish. Certified divers can enjoy up to 3 escorted dives on this amazing reef. Also available is introductory diving for those wanting to have the opportunity to experience the reef from the ocean floor with a qualified dive instructor assisting you all the way.

Aristocat is one of the few boats that is authorized for swimming and whale watching of the inquisitive Dwarf Minke whales that are regularly encountered from May to September. This is the most awe inspiring thing to be up so close to these gentle creatures as they swim so close you can just about touch them and as they look you in the eye, you are mesmerized. An experience you will never, ever forget. Each year around 8,000 humpback whales make their way to the Great Barrier Reef breeding grounds from the Antarctica. You definitely do not want to swim with these gentle giants as they are bigger than the boat and also the fact that they are protected in Australian waters.

All your snorkel equipment, lycra suits and flotation aids are supplied. They also have prescription masks for those who need it. Morning tea, afternoon tea and a buffet lunch are supplied. Beer, wine and soft drink is available to purchase.
