cairns family activities & tours: cairns habitat cruises
A relaxing sunset cruise into the Cairns Inlet
Cairns Habitat Cruises departs morning and afternoon conveniently from the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns Australia right next to the Great Barrier Reef. The three hour, half-day tours combine a fully-guided, interpretive cruise on Trinity Inlet as well as a visit to Cairns Crocodile Farm.
The journey begins aboard the ‘Habitat Explorer’, where passengers can sit back and relax with morning or afternoon tea aboard a modern 14 metre catamaran providing the ultimate in comfort. The Habitat Explorer cruises along the picturesque Trinity Inlet. Discover the secrets of this unique and special mangrove-lined waterway that is the home to a rich and diverse array of wildlife including crocodiles, native birds and over 70 species of fish.
Linking Cairns to the sea, Trinity Inlet is a tropical tidal estuary that services freight, leisure and fishing vessels. This vibrant and busy harbour is steeped in history and culture — the friendly staff will captivate you with interesting facts and tales of the trade.
Enjoy crocodile spotting in safety aboard the MV Habitat Explorer on your cruise whilst learning about the inhabitants of the area.
The highlight of Cairns Habitat Cruises tour is a visit to Cairns Crocodile Farm. The Cairns Crocodile Farm is the largest in Australia. This is a great chance for visitors to view hundreds of estuarine crocodiles up close at Australia's largest commercial farm. Your tour through the farm includes an informative commentary about crocodiles and this fascinating industry.
Coach transport is provided either to or from Cairns Crocodile Farm depending on which tour is selected. Either way, this journey travels through sugar cane fields just to the south of Cairns and heightens the overall Tropical North Queensland experience.
Cairns Habitat Cruises is a sister tour to Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises so why not combine the both in one day?

The Tour Specialists tip
What a fun trip, nice and cruisy and informative. Great for the environmentalists and birdwatchers. You get to see all the happenings on the harbour front from the prawn boats to the luxury liners, see some of the famous boats from the movies and even see the people that live amongst the mangroves. Try the sunset cruise if you have the time.
