Golden Sands Resort is within walking distance of Half Moon Bay Golf Course which is an 18 hole par 70 course which boasts Coral Sea and marina views throughout. The Yorkey’s Knob Marina and Boating club has some of the most expensive vessels in Cairns as well as a lively all weather restaurant with reasonably priced meals, a children’s playground and evening entertainment. Walking distance from the resort is a small shopping centre to stock up your apartment refrigerator on arrival. Restaurants such as Star Apple located at the Golf Course and several small takeaways along the beach and at the shopping center are conveniently located for those days or nights when you want to take a night off from cooking.
The local bus company Sunbus offers a 24-hour bus service that departs hourly to Cairns and the Northern Beaches.
Golden Sands Resort is ideal for sporting enthusiasts. It offers a large freeform lagoon style salt water swimming pool a full size tennis court, table tennis, and basketball ring; the local golf course is nearby, or you can simply take long walks along the sandy tropical Yorkeys Knob beach.
At the southern end of Yorkeys Knob beach is a small mangrove estuary spilling onto a sand bar where you can walk out into the ocean for hundreds of meters at low tide. This popular fishing spot is where you can meet the locals to learn about the area and gather some great tips on fishing in the area.
The Golden Sands Resort is made up of very spacious one and two bedroom apartments decorated with a tropical setting. All apartments have a sofa bed that can be pulled down into a double bed. The one bedroom apartment has a queen size bed with a few fixed rooms with a single bed also. The two bedroom apartments have a queen size bed and 2 single beds.
All accommodation apartments feature fully equipped kitchen, fully ducted Air-conditioning, ceiling fans, fridge and freezer, microwave, stove, internal laundry with dryer and washing machine, dining room, lounge room with TV, ISD/STD direct dial telephone, en-suite for all bedrooms(shower, toilet, and vanity) and a large private balcony with outdoor setting.
