Cape Tribulation is the only place on earth where two World Heritage-listed environments live alongside each other. On one side, the amazing tropical canopy and underworld of the Daintree Rainforest; on the other, the sparkling turquoise waters of the Great Barrier Reef.
Cape Tribulation is located between two World Heritage areas; the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree National Park, approximately 140km north of Cairns (2½ hours’ drive), and 75km south of Cooktown. Domestic and international visitors can fly direct to Cairns, where a number of transfer options to Cape Tribulation are available.
To get to Cape Tribulation Resort & Spa you can choose a coach transfer or a hire car.
Coach transfers are available between Cairns and Cape Tribulation daily. We can recommend a selection of transport companies who offer transfers to and from Cairns airport. Transfer time is approximately two and half hours each way.
You can also organise to hire a car or drive your own and enjoy the magnificent scenery at your leisure. Once you arrive at the Daintree River, the ferry, operating between 6am to 11pm, will take you across to the road to Cape Tribulation.
There are 66 rooms in total with two different room types — Daintree Retreats and Rainforest Retreats. Both room types cater for a maximum of three guests, and have easy access to Cape Tribulation Beach.
In the Daintree Retreats every detail has been considered to ensure a unique rainforest experience. Enjoy a private view into the lush rainforest undergrowth and be surrounded by the soothing sounds of the Daintree wildlife. Generously spacious, with polished timber floors and elegant interiors, room appointments are stylish and comfortable.
All Daintree Retreat rooms feature private rainforest views, you own private balcony, king bed with twin share also available, oil burner, air-conditioning, bathtub, day bed, CD player and floor-to-ceiling rainforest views from the bathroom.
The Rainforest Retreats are free-standing and true eco-havens, where guests can escape in the most exquisite of natural surroundings. Each retreat has been carefully designed to offer privacy and comfort and is perfectly positioned to make the most of picturesque rainforest views.

Other special features at Cape Tribulation Resort & Spa include a lovely beachfront restaurant. ‘The Cape’ is the social hub of Cape Tribulation Resort & Spa, offering dining, light snacks, tropical cocktails and full bar facilities in a stunning beachside setting. Based on the design of an Indonesian Long House, ‘The Cape’ enjoys views over the pool to the sands of Coconut Beach. It is the perfect venue for a relaxed breakfast, a lazy lunch by the pool or a sunset cocktail before a tantalising dinner. Menus take advantage of the freshest local produce including seafood and tropical fruits of the region.
